In her role, Krista’s responsibilities range from writing procedures and executing tasks in both supervisory and engineering capacities. She also serves as the Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) representative for the St. John’s region, where she coordinates safety meetings, handles incident reports, and monitors equipment certifications. Her work involves both office-based tasks and field operations in locations across Canada and the United States, including offshore Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario, Houston, Colorado, and Idaho.

Krista’s path to becoming a Field Engineer started with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, achieved through her studies at St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University. Her interest in math and science, bolstered by advanced courses in high school chemistry, physics, and math, laid the groundwork for her engineering career. Her time at university included involvement in career fairs, professional engineering organizations (such as APENS), and volunteer work with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. A co-op placement with BJ Process & Pipeline Systems in Edmonton during her final term solidified her interest and gave her hands-on experience, leading to a full-time position post-graduation.

Krista’s schedule varies depending on her work environment. Her regular office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but when working in the field, she shifts to 12-hour days. For every field day, she receives 0.4 days off, providing flexibility in her demanding schedule. With a 10-minute commute, Krista has convenient access to her workplace, allowing for a balance between work and personal time.
